Why I Built Hamro Sangam: Connecting Nepalis Beyond Borders

For a long time, I’ve wanted to build something that could genuinely help our community. Living abroad comes with many challenges. Finding the right job, navigating a career, finding housing, building a network, or simply finding someone who can offer guidance when we need it. When I first came to the United States, I had a very limited network and few resources to guide me toward the career I wanted to pursue. I had to figure out many things on my own by researching, learning new skills, making mistakes, and sometimes taking the longer route simply because I didn’t have someone to point me in the right direction. That experience stayed with me. Over the last few months, I’ve spent much of my free time building Hamro Sangam, a platform created with one simple idea: bring our Nepali community together, wherever we are in the world. Whether someone is looking for a job, housing, career guidance, a travel companion, community events, or simply needs a little help, I hope Hamro Sangam can become a place where we support one another. Sometimes, something small for us, like sharing an opportunity, giving advice, or helping someone make a connection, can make a huge difference in another person’s life. Building this as a solo developer has definitely been challenging, but seeing Hamro Sangam finally launch on both iOS and Android makes me incredibly proud. Not simply because I built an app, but because I built something I hope can be useful to our community. This was never about making money. It’s about creating a community where we help each other move forward. I hope you’ll join, explore, share, and most importantly, help someone whenever you can.
